Tony Says We Will Win!!

I like Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano, I really do. I love his enthusiasm. He gave a great speech at the Dolphins Kickoff Luncheon yesterday. WE WILL WIN he said. I’m sure they will win some games. But in order for them to win, some changes are going to have to be made.

First and foremost, he is going to have to put aside his loyalty to RT Marc Colombo. The guy was good in his day, but his day is past. I don’t know what the answer is, but honestly, it’s not my job to know what the answer is. It’s Sparano’s.

Secondly, the running game. And this ties in with the OL problems. Chad Henne has shown much improvement, but I don’t think he is good enough to put this team on his shoulders. He has to have some kind of running game. Reggie Bush was a great pick up, but he is not an every down back. He hasn’t averaged more than 15 carries per game since he was in college and has been injury prone. Second round pick Daniel Thomas has been tentative, especially around the goal line. This is why the team brought in 31 year old Larry Johnson.

I’m not saying I don’t think Bush will not do his part, but his part is probably going to be catching passes out of the backfield as much as taking hand-offs. Does Johnson have enough left in the tank to carry a good part of the load? He hasn’t played much the past two years so he should be fairly rested.

The offensive line and running game problems are the two main reasons I predicted a 9-7 record for Miami. And with those two problems, that’s a generous prediction. If Miami can come up with solutions, I think they could win 10 or 11 games. And if they can do that, yes Tony, we will all be with you!
