Win Streak Over: Dolphins Drop To 3-8

The Dolphins 3 game win streak came to an end tonight when Dan Bailey kicked a 28 yard field goal as time expired to give Dallas a 20-19 win. But the tale of this game really happened early on in the game. Turnovers were the story. Turnovers and the lack of what the Dolphins did with them. On the Cowboys opening drive of the game, Vonte Davis intercepted a Tony Romo pass deep in Miami territory and returned to to the Dolphins 42 yard line, giving Miami excellent field position. The Dolphins offense responded with a three and out.

On the Cowboys second possession, the defense forced a punt from inside the Cowboy 5 yard line. Miami ended up with the ball at the 50 yard line. After a 14 yard run by Reggie Bush to open the series, Miami went backwards and ended up with a 4th and 21 from the Dallas 47. Again a punt.

Once again a Romo interception set the Dolphins up in excellent field position at the Dallas 26 yard line. And once again, all the Dolphins could muster was a field goal. Three possessions with excellent field position, three points. The Cowboys, on the other hand got one turnover when Matt Moore couldn't handle a bad snap and the Cowboys recovered at the Dolphin 5 and turned it into 7 points right before halftime. The Dolphins did put together a quick drive for a FG to end the half. Dallas led 10-6 at half time.

The Dolphins did put together an impressive start to the 2nd half. An 11 play 71 yard drive led to...another field goal. The Dolphins then held the Cowboys in check an got the ball back on their 26. They drove 74 yards in 5 plays that ended with a 35 yard TD to Brandon Marshall. If you had your face in the pumpkin pie and did not see this play, shame on you. It was the best reception in a long time by a Dolphin receiver and definitely the best by Marshall. Terrence Newman had his arms around Marshall's neck, tackling him and Marshall STILL made the catch. Unbelievable!

Unfortunately for the Dolphins, Romo got hot in the second half. He was completing passes while being hit, dragged down...you get the picture. On the other side of the ball, the Cowboys defense was all over Matt Moore in the 4th quarter. Still, Miami had the lead at 19-17 when they were forced to punt with 2:59 left in the game. But the defense couldn't hold the Boys and Dallas drove down and kicked the winning FG as time expired.
