Could opening day turn into a shoot out between two second year QB’s? As it was posted earlier, the Fins may have a problem at corner back tomorrow. Both rookie CB's Will Davis and Jamar Taylor are out. And now Dimitri Patterson is listed as questionable, though there are varying reports on the severity of his injury. James Walker at ESPN reported yesterday that Patterson practiced but wore a protective sleeve during walkthrough. It appears the Browns just may be in the same boat.
The Browns are only carrying 4 CB’s on their active roster. Starting CB Buster Skrine did not practice on Friday because of a shoulder injury. He is listed as questionable. His backup, Chris Owens is also on the injury report, listed as probable with a foot injury. If Skrine cannot go, that would also mean a much bigger role for rookie CB Leon McFadden. Both Ownes & McFadden missed large parts of training camp due to injuries and may not yet be in playing shape.
All these injuries to the corners of both teams could turn Sunday into a shoot out. If that is the case, I think it favors the Fins!
