One thing I've noticed watching Philbin's post practice availability is that the coach seems much more relaxed. He's calling reporters out by name and seemingly trying to inject some humor into his presser. It's no secret that the organization has implemented team building exercises similar to ones you would find in a conference room, but not everyone can adapt.
After meeting with Philbin, @ArmandoSalguero of the Miami Herald said, "Philbin is working at being more transparent. And perhaps that’s one reason he easily acknowledges what he thinks is right about his team and also what needs significant hard work."
On his visit camp visit to Davie, Peter King form @theMMQB even acknowledged that having music during the 8 a.m. workout is a "first for a Joe Philbin team."
There has been improvement every year and reaching the playoffs is the obvious next step for this team.“I’m excited about this season, I really am,” Philbin said. “When I took this job, I told [owner] Steve [Ross] that I believe in being a developmental football team that should get better week to week and year to year.”
Remember Tom Coughlin? A formally rigid coach who changed his approach to his players and ended up winning a Super Bowl. We're a long way from the Super Bowl, but I'm just saying, the team seems much more relaxed.
