Today, the Miami Dolphins trimmed the roster to 77 today with the trade of Chris McCain. According to multiple reports, the Dolphins were planning on cutting McCain. An undrafted free agent 2 years ago, McCain had an up and down start to his career. He was in flux of moving between DE and OLB. He started flashing signs of becoming a much better DE and showed teams, such as the Saints, he had some value. The Dolphins received a conditional 7th round pick for McCain, where he will be potentially a starter with the Saints. This move isn't puzzling, as Jeff Ireland and Dan Campbell, who praised him highly last season, are currently with the Saints.
The Dolphins have until Tuesday at 4pm to release 2 more players to comply with the NFL rules of 75 bodies for the last preseason game.
