So far Foster has missed the first few days of training camp after being put on the physically unable to perform list, but has been practicing with the team for the past two weeks. He was told to sit out our preseason opening game against the Giants, in hopes of letting his health improve. "We just need to be smart." Coach Adam Gase said in a past interview.
More recently Gase said "Right now I'm pretty sure he's going to go, so unless I change my mind for some reason, I want to see him get in there with that first group and get him a feel for how they operate." Which is a great idea. Even with a little over two weeks of training camp he has to learn a new playbook and get accustomed to a new offence. Yet, some will argue it shouldn't an issue, he has been to 4 pro bowls after all.
Bottom line is dont expect to see much of him on the field this Friday. He has a long list of past injuries and doctors have been quoted saying that he straight up destroyed his Achilles tendon. Still, he is a veteran and can do a lot for us, IF he is played the right way and his health is kept in check. He's not a bad player, just an injured one.
