Pouncey Gets Released; Sitton Gets Signed & Miami Trades For A Center

Lotta trench action going on in Miami today. Let’s start with Pouncey asking for his release. I don't think it's much of a stretch to assume that Pouncey wasn't a real #trusttheculture guy. Not saying that being Aaron Hernandez's wingman doesn't mean that you're all about positive atmosphere but when you're one of Aaron Hernandez's past wingmen you probably aren't all about being told what to do. I think we figured Pouncey wasn't long for this team. To many injuries and the fore mentioned locker room culture stuff just about did him in. When he played, he was one of the best centers in the league. Unfortunately, you could always pencil him in for missing 4-6 games a year. Can't have that, can't pay for that.

Miami signed guard Josh Sitton today. He was a sneaky good player that was out there to get signed and Miami had their eye on him for a bit. Sitton has been in the league for a decade and I wouldn't be shocked if many didn't know who he was. He's been a 4-time pro bowler and won a super bowl with the Packers back in 2011. The guy can play. He may not wow you with physical dominance but he's a tough out. Using the NCAA tournament as a reference, Sitton is Wichita St. Won't necessary win the whole thing but is always there and always plays tough. He'll come right in and solidify Miami's O-line. Also, and this is important, Sitton looks like he might be a member of the Wyatt Family, even the way he talks. Very cerebral, the kind of guy who can lead a pack of men who realizes the secrets to success.

The Dolphin's trench warfare didn't stop with Wichita St. Josh Sitton, they went and traded for C Daniel Kilgore from 49ers, who will be seemingly Pouncey's backup. He was ranked on pro football focus as the 23rd ranked center last year, and yes, I'm rather sure of that ranking this time. I really couldn't tell you to much about him besides what I saw when I looked him up. He's 30 years old, drafted in 2011 from Appalachian St. and he played in all games last year. Maybe he comes in and starts mauling people. Maybe he comes in and gets tossed around and Miami scrambles to get him out of the lineup in wee 5. I will say that Kilgore is a pretty cool, tough guy sounding name. Hopefully he plays as good as his name states he should.

  1. Getting rid of Pouncey, Suh, Thomas and Landry was a no brainer.
Suh was really good but for the money he's was making, he has to resemble A Donald or JJ Watt more than Damon Harrison.
Then you have a receiver we all know is not a top 10 receiver and spare me the stats. I know all about them. Don't tell me you can't think of 10 receivers who would make the dolphins much better than Landry.

On Pouncey, this should be a holiday for fans. He was the most overrated
player ever. The dolphins must have been looking at the wrong twin brother.
How many times did we get plays for a large gain and a holding penalty by 51 has ruined it?
He was terrible and no matter who plays instead will be an upgrade.

On Offense we gambled too soon on both receivers we signed. Amendola is too old and a concussion or two away from retiring. Wilson is ok but do you want to pay 8 mil for ok?
If we waited I'm sure M Crabtree would sign for the same 8 mil.
I'm sure there will be others soon.

The Guards and Center from Frisco are great. Anything we can do to help the O-Line the better. We have to get it right one of these years.

Unfortunately unless we draft another GREAT player, we will wallow in the 6-10 8-8 range.
We need playmakers and just all around great players.
We have to get our next superstar as soon as possible.
Until that happens, we are spinning our wheels and getting no where.

At least we will always look marvelous.

    1. I am a long time Dolphins fan and long time disappointed fan. The Dolphins have consistently made the same mistakes in free agency, the draft and in trades and as much as I dislike the Patriots I sure wish the Dolphins would pay attention to the Blue Print. The Patriots consistently make moves that bring extra draft picks and they don't over spend in Free Agency, nor do they make trades that don't bring back a good return. When they have a player that doesn't buy into the program they get rid of them but they always get great value in return. On the other hand we take a 2nd round pro bowl receiver and give him away for a 4th round and peanuts. We take a starting running back and give him away for a 4th round draft pick, and by the way he is sure thanking the Dolphins for allowing him to win a Super Bowl...

Now I'm not saying a 4th round draft pick isn't valuable but lets face it how many of the Dolphins 4th round draft picks are on the team today from the last 10 years?
I can tell you... only 1 Walt Aikens and he is not even a starter. So do you see my point... the likely hood of us getting someone that will be a regular contributor from either of the moves that send our best receiver & best running back packing are very slim... These are the reasons Miami will remain at the lower half of teams in the league.
